A quiet hush fell over the guests as Erika’s father wrapped his hands around the mic. His eyes thoughtful as he looked over at his beautiful daughter, dawned in a white dress her new husband sitting at her side. I can only imagine the memories that flooded his mind as he spoke- “When you were born you wrapped your little finger around mine,” his voice filled with emotion, “you wrapped it around my heart.”
“you wrapped it around my heart.”
Overlooking the gorgeous view of Willamette Valley Vineyards, Erika and Kurt held hands while listening to the pastor during the ceremony. Once in a while sneaking glances at each other. During their relationship, much of it was long distance because of Kurt’s deployment, but the time apart from each other had only deepened their relationship.
I was grateful to be a small part of this day as I helped shoot with Katie Dessin Photography! Shooting with Katie and her boyfriend, Jem was so fun- I’m so glad to have the chance to work them!
Erika thoughtfully made a sign to ask the guests to please put away the cell phones during the ceremony and I was so impressed that I can’t even remember one cellphone during that time!
The mother-son dance was especially sweet- it warmed my heart seeing Kurt’s mom tear up during the dance as her baby boy held her close.
The cake by Lux Sucre was a grand piece of work with buttercream frosting, I thought it was pretty cool how Kurt cut the cake with his sword- talk about a cake knife!!
I was a little obsessed with the gorgeous blush florals, by Milwaukie Floral I’m especially fond of the fluffy peonies!!
The reception was surely lively as the dance floor was never empty. The bride and grooms parents participating fully in many of the dances – it was fun to see the enthusiasm in celebrating Kurt and Erica’s beautiful wedding day!
