I finally had the chance to visit the Portland Cookie Dough Cafe last week, and it felt almost like Christmas!
Trusting the GPS (it took a little bit to find because it’s small and easy to miss), we found a parking space and headed in. I opened the door and was surprised to see it rather empty, yet several customers were in and out, taking their cookie dough to go.
As soon as one of the workers came with several spoons, she asked if I wanted to try some samples.
There was a myriad of flavors including gluten-free oatmeal, cake batter, snickerdoodle and vegan chocolate. You might be relieved to know that I only tried three… and then I chose to stick with the classic chocolate chip.
There was some seating along the windows facing the street which I used. I also noticed a sign that cautioned me about their swinging stools. They were fun to swing until I almost did a face plant on the floor. So if you ever go, take watch of those signs and swinging stools!
The cookie dough, itself, was delicious… buttery and sweet! It’s pretty hard to go wrong with cookie dough. It was a bit more crunchy than I was used to because of the sugar granules (my recipe doesn’t use sugar), so although I usually stay away from it, that day, I made an exception.
Needless to say, I’m hoping to make a second trip there, try a few more samples and swing on a few more stools. Yet, now that I’ve tried the Portland Cookie Dough Cafe, I’ve got my eyes set on the one in New York!
