This picture was taken last summer, the first time I had my turnouts on… hence my crooked jacket and clean gloves.
Being involved and invested in my rural community is important to me, and (this is my conviction) if I had time to watch a movie or scroll on Instagram, I had time to go help someone else.
So I made the decision in 2019 to join our little fire department as a volunteer and since then many nights have been filled with drills and some weekends getting certifications.
I’ve been asked several times if this is something that I’d turn into a career… haha nope. I love what I’m already doing and bringing seamless wedding experiences for my couples, yet this is something that I’ve chosen to invest my spare time in.
So in case you’ve wondered what I’ve been up to, I’m currently going through the fire academy (I never thought I’d say this). It’s certainly pushed me past many comfort zones and breaking limits (like working out more), but I’m grateful to be a part of such an amazing team and have the chance to give back to my community.
