She was new… a freshman, sitting with her girlfriends in the OSU cafeteria.
Michael was sitting just a few tables down with his friends. The guys were checking out the girls where Katelyn was sitting, and daring each other to leave their number.
As they got up to leave, one of them coolly slipped their info to the group of girls and walked off. Michael’s friends were teasing him for “chickening out,” so he built up the courage to find a napkin, then nervously wrote his phone number down in front of the group of amused girls.
None of the girls intended to use the information, yet later on, when they “say” they had nothing else to do, decided to give them a call. The night ended up with playing games and pool together, and so the seed had been planted in Katelyn and Michael’s relationship.
Eight months into their relationship, Michael knew that Katelyn was the one for him. He even bought a ring, yet he kept it hidden for the next twenty-eight months as both he and Katelyn finished college.
In the back of their minds, throughout their three-year relationship, they both knew they had a future together. It’s easy to see that these two were, and are, best friends. They work together at the same company, show a tremendous amount of respect for each other, and already have an adorable yellow lab, Lulu!
And even though we’ve had crazy stormy weather in the past few months, their engagement session fell into a pocket of beautiful weather for some dreamy engagement photos at Cathedral Park! I was absolutely grateful for such an unbelievably SUNNY day.
Katelyn looked stunning in her red dress with ruffled sleeves. I loved how it popped out of the backdrop, below St. John’s Bridge.
Her second look was just as lovely with a soft pink tulle skirt, pairing well with Michael’s outfit.
These two were such naturals and easy going with the camera, so we decided to venture to the docks of the Willamette River as the sun began to set. We also veered off to a little beach area with a “love” sign in the background (I’m dying to know the story behind that sign. So if anyone knows, I’m all ears!).
Katelyn and Michael- the love and care you show for each other and those around you are so genuine. I can’t wait to see you again and meet all your friends and family in a few quick months!
