As freshmen in high school, she caught Marcus’s eye- big time. She thought he was a little arrogant and didn’t like him, except for his attention… Oh but that didn’t deter him. She finally agreed, so Marcus talked to her dad, asking if he could date her.
“Sixteen,” he said. That was the magic number, and until then, they couldn’t go out. So Marcus waited, and by the time her birthday came, he was ready. On the phone with her father for the coveted permission to date his love, he received another “No, not yet.” His excitement was crushed…
But then the phone rang again- it was Victoria’s dad. He realized he had given his word to Marcus, and gave his permission.
Victoria, going on her very first date ever, was just a tad bit nervous. She had a small piece of wisdom when going on a first date: never order spaghetti. So she ordered a big greasy burger. It was probably on the same list as spaghetti, but she figured that if he didn’t like her on that date, then they just weren’t meant for each other. Marcus was really wanting to order ribs, but he was too nervous to have such a potentially messy meal on his first date with Victoria. Which I think is so stinking cute!!
So, they dated for a bit, then broke off… until their senior year, it was then when Marcus knew Victoria was his forever girl.
Then after a few more years of dating, Marcus knew it was time. He carefully planned a proposal by choosing different spots that played an important part in their relationship. Each destination had a good friend waiting with a note for Victoria, each with direction on where to go next (can we pause to give Marcus a round of applause?!).
It started with Marcus’s roommate Bryce (Victoria’s brother), picking her up. The only problem was that Victoria was expecting Marcus to pick her up for a date, so going on a trip with her brother was not EVEN on her radar! Finally, after some pleading, Bryce took Victoria to the next location.
Her journey that day concluded at a little bridge where, unseen, Marcus was waiting for her. As she walked across the bridge, a song broke the silence. That’s when Marcus got down on one knee and proposed to his love.
That event was just over two years ago, and it’s such a beautiful thing to see their bond and commitment continue to grow. And it’s not like I’m bias or anything, but I think they’re a pretty adorable couple!!
As a side note, shooting in the Arizona desert at sunrise is my new favorite thing- even getting up at 4 in the morning was a 1000% worth it. Victoria blew me away with the outfits she picked out. Her dusty blue maxi dress flowing in the morning’s glowy light gave me the chills!! Marcus also looked so very dapper in his black suit- I love it when my guys dress up!
Marcus and Tori, when I think of you together I get such a warm feeling in my heart. Your love for God and love for each other is a rare jewel and I hope these pictures always remind you of that. So much love and big hugs to you two!!
